Crock Pot Love: Pulled Pork

24 Oct

I bought a huge chunk of meat at Publix Saturday.

Yeah, I know. Ridiculous.

I had been salivating over the idea of making pulled pork all week, to be accompanied by the applesauce and some fresh green beans. I’d never made pulled pork before though, so I consulted several recipes and then sort of made my own Sunday.

Ingredients: 2 pounds Boston Butt pork roast, 1/2 onion, 3 garlic cloves, salt, pepper and ground mustard, bbq sauce of your choice, 1/4 cup water

Directions:  Slice onion and put it and garlic in bottom of crock pot. Then season the meat with pepper, salt and mustard. Put meat in crock pot and cover it with 16 oz of barbecue sauce.  Add 1/4 cup water. Stir, making sure meat is covered with sauce and onions. Cook on high for six hours.

Serve: Serve it on buns for sandwiches and with sides of applesauce and green beans.

How was it: It had a nice sweet and spicy taste. It was deliciously messy. And the meat fell apart instantly when I poked at it with a fork.
