Fall=Chili

On Thursday night, instead of dealing with a mounting to-do list,  I just cooked.  While the French onion soup simmered on the stove, I dragged my crock pot out, browned some turkey meat and made some chili.

Stressed out? Make some chili.

It was the most haphazardly put together chili ever. I had bought the basic ingredients, the meat and beans, on Wednesday while I was grocery shopping, but everything else was sort of randomly assembled and not measured. That’s kind of one of the great things about chili. You just sort of throw it all in a pot.

Ingredients: 1 pound turkey meat, browned, half a green pepper diced, 1/4 white onion diced, 1 can dark kidney beans, 1 can crushed tomatoes, 1/4 can tomato sauce (I used Bertolli’s), garlic powder and chili powder for seasoning

Directions: Throw the meat, pepper, onion, beans, tomatoes and sauce into the crock pot, stir and add garlic powder and/or chili powder for seasoning.  Cook on high for 90 minutes. Then eat, possibly with cornbread and beer.

OK, the picture isn’t pretty, but I promise it tasted great!
