Chili weeks

I probably make chili more than any other soup or stew. As I’ve probably mentioned in every other post I’ve written about chili, it’s my favorite throw-things-in-a-pot dish.

It’s also one of the easiest things to parcel out for lunches.

From the stuff in my kitchen this week, the chili that resulted was:

Ingredients: 1-lb ground turkey (my package was a little more than that, so I saved some for a turkey burger), 1-15 oz can dark red kidney beans, 2 cans stewed tomatoes, leftover tomato sauce (I kid you not…it was probably about 3/4 cup), 1 tbsp garlic, 1 1/2 tbsp chili powder, sprinkling of onion powder, and pepper and salt to taste

Directions: Brown turkey and drain grease. Transfer turkey to crock pot, add tomatoes, beans (drained) sauce, garlic and spices. Cook for 3 1/2 hours on high.

  1. This is almost exactly how I make it, although usually I add a third can of beans to make it last longer and a drained can of sweet or white corn. Yum!
