Good afternoon and happy lunch hour to you all.
Just wanted to share with you a bit of what’s been on my reading list today.
The New Yorker did a marvelous profile on J.K. Rowling, who has a new book (for adults) out. I love the Harry Potter series. I know many people poke fun at the hysteria around it, but look at how many kids were reading those books. I’m for anything that gets kids reading and using their imaginations.
Speaking of kids, The Atlantic has a great piece on how focusing on an intensive writing curriculum made a world of difference at a struggling New York school.
Self Magazine has an interview with Joanna Froggatt from Downton Abbey (Anna). I can’t wait for its return next year!
Michael Ruhlman takes on the issue of whether food writing is important via the Huffington Post.
The New York Times looks at all of the extra fees that accompany traveling these days.
Are we getting smarter? The Wall Street Journal looks at why IQs keep rising.
